Kinja'd!!!5 Kinja'd!!! 4

Every Friday night in Wichita at Central and West (I know, most cliche street names ever) a bunch of people show up to an otherwise boring strip mall and have a car show.

The show starts at 5:30 and lasts til dark. I try to go as often as I can, but this was my first time going in a while. I'm glad I went tonight...

It's typically a bunch of classic American cars, but I've overheard people say you never know what's going to show up. Tonight was one of those nights

First thing I noticed was this Lamborghini Diablo...or is it?

Kinja'd!!!

Fiero based replica. Sad. But what's next door?

Kinja'd!!!

A shitty picture of an Elise! I love these cars so much, I would like to own one someday, and they are a rare sight in Wichita.

Kinja'd!!!

I've seen a fair number of Elises in my life, but they never fail to make me drop my jaw at how small they are. If anyone near here owns one and would be willing to give me a ride, I'd love it. These are truly one of my favorite cars and seeing one gets me excited about them for a while.

Kinja'd!!!

Okay, now for some classics. This hearse was badass, even had a coffin in the trunk!

Kinja'd!!!

I don't know the story behind this Eagle, but it seems to have an interesting history. The owner wasn't nearby, so I guess it'll be a mystery. It seemed in proper shape for an old car, and I know it gets used because I've seen it in a distant parking lot at work.

Kinja'd!!!

Plenty of custom hotrods come to the show, this one looked stellar

Kinja'd!!!

A little something for everyone, this rat rod is out here every week it seems and I really like it

Kinja'd!!!

I think there's some increased 'Vette excitement with the C7 on the way. More Corvettes than usual showed up, with some pristine examples like this one

Kinja'd!!!

Definitely don't see these every day. Not sure if want...

Kinja'd!!!

Dat tire width. Plenty of drag cars come to this show, this Camaro was a rather nice example

Kinja'd!!!

Hot damn. Okay, my pics don't do it justice but this Mach 1 was CLEAN. If the owner had told me it left the showroom today, I'd believe him. Words cannot describe how good this mustang looked. Honestly it seemed to be in better condition than that Challenger next to it!

Kinja'd!!!

Like I said, CLEAN!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

A few more mach 1's showed up shortly after this one, but this was the high point in quality to me. You can see my Sonic peeking in the background

Nearly as clean Z-28. Love these

Kinja'd!!!

I went back to my car to chill and watch cars come in, and as I approached this guy showed up. Talk about attention grabbing. As soon as he pulled in everyone flocked to his car. And for good reason, this thing was SICK. Incredibly well done, owner seemed cool too.

Kinja'd!!!

This was indescribably low. IT was definitely shorter than the Elise, it didn't reach my waist and I'm pretty short. The attention to detail blew me away, green calipers, green accents inside the rear wheels, heck the driver was even wearing green and black sunglasses and a green and black shirt!

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

CTS-V but wait...

Kinja'd!!!

Lingenfelter tuned! Also damn...so much plastic in the engine bay

Kinja'd!!!

This looked...weird

Kinja'd!!!

As mentioned before, I think the Corvette craze is going strong. This was a fine example, near the quality of that Mach 1. Another car that if you told me it left the showroom this morning, I'd believe you

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Ever wanted to race a coffin?

Kinja'd!!!

That's a lot of motor

Kinja'd!!!

So by this point I was getting a bit cold and hungry, thought I'd head home. As I got close to my car, something extraordinary showed up. Something I never thought I'd see in Kansas...

...an ARIEL ATOM!

This has to be the only one in Kansas. I've never seen one in person at all, so this was a sight. What a beaut. People say it handles like a go cart, well, it's about the size of one too. It must be an absolute thrill to drive

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

And that's all the pics I have. Sorry for shit quality, taken with my iPhone. If there's enough interest I'll take my DSLR next time and take crappy pictures with a decent camera of more of the cars. If you're in the Wichita area seriously, come on by. Look for a black Sonic with an Oppo sticker, it'll be a good time.

Side note: when I came home, my cat was missing. She apparently jumped out a window in my bedroom. I spent an hour looking around my house for her, couldn't find her. My neighbors saw me walking around the house with a flashlight and came outside, told them my cat was missing. They found her, stuck in a basement window cover at their house. Needless to say whatever high I got from the car show was immediately ruined by coming home to my missing cat...but it all worked out in the end I suppose.

Is that the same CTS-V by Lingenfelter that Farah drove?

Also, I love the look of ratrods but feel guilty about it. Why? Because I'll happily hate on Donks for being silly and impractical but Rats are really just the 'acceptable' version of Donking maybe due to the work that goes in, or because they look 'badass' but as much as I love Rats, I hate Donks.

I have no idea, but I somewhat doubt it.

As far as rat-rods vs donks, I agree, I'm the same way. It's just a personal preference though, I find rat-rods to be cool symbols of hard work and dedication, whereas donks are just ostentatious displays of waste. It also helps that most rat rods start out as something pretty cool, while donks are typically mediocre cars made way, way worse.

I have seen the Atom running around town a few times in the last year and there are two guys with Lotus' that are always downtown area. For being in the middle of KS I have seen some pretty awesome cars on the regular there!
